Serviettes de bain

Bath towels are designed for everyday use and usually come in a more standard size (28 x 55 inches or 70 x 140 cm). Bath sheets are larger (roughly 35 x 63 inches or 90 x 160 cm) and provide extra, full-body coverage. People who prefer more warmth or a spa-like feel often choose bath sheets for the additional size and comfort.

When choosing a bath towel, many people focus on softness, absorbency, how fast it dries, and overall durability. Heavier towels often feel softer and more luxurious. Lighter towels may dry faster and feel easier to use. Cotton is a popular choice because it feels soft, absorbent, and comfortable against the skin.

Absorbency is determined by the fiber type and the weave. Cotton is naturally well-absorbent, and when woven into loops (terry cloth), it creates a larger surface area to soak up water quickly. A towel’s absorbency often improves after the first few washes as the fibers open up. To maintain this, avoid using too much fabric softener, which can leave a coating that reduces water absorption.

Standard bath towel sizes can vary slightly, but generally they are around 28 x 55 inches or 70 x 140 cm. People looking for extra coverage often choose oversized towels or bath sheets instead.

For the best hygiene, you should wash your bath towels after every three to four uses. To keep them fresh between washes, always hang them on a towel rack in a way that allows air to circulate through the fabric. If a towel stays damp for too long in a humid bathroom, it can develop odors and bacteria much faster, requiring more frequent cleaning.

You should replace your towels every three to five years, depending on their material, quality, frequency of use, and care. Replace them when they start to feel rough, struggle to absorb moisture, develop lingering odors, or show visible signs of thinning and fraying.
